A 15-year-old girl was the victim of a sexual battery on Shattuck Avenue Sunday about 3 p.m., according to a Nixle alert released Thursday afternoon.

The alert states that the girl, who was walking on Shattuck Avenue near Berkeley Way, accidentally walked on a blanket that a woman was sleeping on. The woman allegedly got visibly upset, made a comment about the girl’s breasts and touched them, according to the report.

The girl called Berkeley Police Department later and officers responded, taking 53-year-old Antoinette Marie Archimedes into custody on suspicion of sexual battery and violation of probation, according to the report.

Corrections: A previous version of this article incorrectly referred to the crime as a sexual assault. In fact, it was a sexual battery.
