Cal women’s basketball redshirt sophomore guard Mi’Cole Cayton will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 season, marking another injury-troubled year for her. Cayton had successful surgery to repair damaged cartilage in her right knee.

The former Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention had a season-ending ACL injury last year in the season opener against St. Mary’s and underwent a long rehabilitation period to prepare for this season.

“I dealt with many different mental battles going through the rehab process, but with the help of the Cal fans, my coaches, my teammates, a lot of other supporters outside Cal, like it was definitely a piece of cake, and I couldn’t be happier to be back on this court,” Cayton said in preseason training.

Cayton, however, missed most of the season so far and only played 14 minutes in the span of three games against Pacific, Tulane and San Diego. Another rehab period awaits Cayton as she will focus on getting back to her best shape after surgery.
