Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert Wednesday night in which it informed the community that it had found a missing “at risk” person.

The Nixle alert, released about 8 p.m., thanked Nixle subscribers for aiding in locating Charles Schug, 73, who suffers from dementia and is nonverbal. Before being located, Schug was last seen near the Solano Avenue, or Northbrae, Tunnel on Wednesday at 3:45 pm, according to a first alert released about 5:30 pm.

“Tips phoned into the Police department led to Mr. Schug being found,” the updated alert said. “Thank you to our community for your help.”
