Cal men’s basketball’s starting point guard cleared to return from ankle injury

Cal men’s basketball’s starting point guard Paris Austin will return to the hardwood after missing the last two games and start against Arizona.

Entering Saturday’s matinee, Austin is averaging 34.8 minutes per game, 14.1 points and 5.2 assists, all of which are team-highs.

Austin returns to the floor after missing Cal’s losses against UCLA and Arizona State. While the Bears averaged 10.5 turnovers during games in which Austin played, they have averaged 15.5 in his absence.

Freshman Matt Bradley assumed the point guard responsibilities against the Bruins and Sun Devils, the results of which were rather mixed. In those two games, Bradley put up 17.0 points and hit more than half of his shots, but averaged 5.0 turnovers to 3.5 assists.
