Berkeley police arrest man on suspicion of burglary reported at Fix that Mac

According to a Nixle alert sent Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a burglary from Fix that Mac on Oxford Street about 2:50 a.m. Saturday.

The store personnel were able to play back the incident with video surveillance cameras remotely and described the suspect to officers searching the area. The officers located the suspect at a gas station two blocks away, and when they searched the suspect, officers found a crowbar and all of the stolen property. The stolen property included a backpack and several cellphones and accessories.

According to the alert, the suspect, homeless 61-year-old Kenneth Toombs, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and violation of his probation.
