Berkeley police investigate burglary, robbery that occurred in 1 day

A Nixle alert sent Tuesday detailed a store burglary and a street robbery that both occurred Friday.

At 5:57 p.m. on Friday, a male suspect entered the Subway store on Solano Avenue armed with a handgun and demanded cash from the register. The alert described the man as white, between 30 and 35 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches, with a medium build and wearing dark clothing with a motorcycle helmet.

The same alert reported that about 6:55 p.m. the same day, a man grabbed a woman’s cellphone and ran away on the corner of Dwight and Martin Luther King Jr. ways. The alert says that witnesses described the suspect as Black, in his mid-20s, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and wearing dark clothing.
