PG&E power outage affects Berkeley, Kensington residents

A power outage was reported by PG&E at 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, affecting about 1,000 customers in Berkeley and Kensington with workers unsure about when power will be restored.

Crews are being sent to several outage locations throughout Berkeley, according to the PG&E Outage Center website. One outage, reported at 6:31 p.m. between the Elmwood and Rockridge neighborhoods, is reported to be caused by an equipment issue.

According to PG&E spokesperson Karly Hernandez, 4,615 people in the East Bay were left without power as of 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. According to Hernandez, 86 customers are without power in Berkeley.
