JANUARY 31, 2019

We all know that in the Bay Area, there’s no shortage of fun nightlife opportunities on the weekends. From clubbing in San Francisco to keg stands at fraternities, it’s pretty easy to find somewhere to let your freak flag fly on a Saturday night. But for those of us who don’t want to wait until the week is over to unwind, finding a good social scene can be trickier. To help you out, the Clog has compiled the best weekday specials at fun bars in Berkeley so that you can let loose any day of the week.

Sunday

Our pick: Boozy brunch at Eureka!

Chase away the Sunday scaries with a $5 Bloody Mary or mimosa with your late lunch at Eureka! End your weekend and start your week on a high note with yummy shareable appetizers and strong drinks, because there’s no reason Sundays should go to waste on studying or errands.

Monday

Our pick: Happy hour at the Beta Lounge

While the Beta Lounge is a lesser known bar among students, there’s a wide variety of affordable food and drink options offered here that make it the perfect place to gather with friends for a chill Monday night. Catch up with a friend over cocktails, which are discounted by $2 on Monday nights, and enjoy a happy hour that lasts until closing.

Tuesday

Our pick: Taco Tuesday at Raleigh’s Pub

With $2 tacos and $5 margaritas, you can’t find a better deal for a good meal and a good time. Raleigh’s is a popular spot for both students and young working professionals, making it a fun, upbeat place to meet up with friends and, if you’re so inclined, make new ones.

Wednesday

Our pick: Whiskey Wednesdays and karaoke at Spats

Blow off steam on hump day by downing a few shots and belting out your favorite tune at Spats. If you are bold enough to throw back whiskey, you can get two shots for less than $10, making it a painful yet relatively cheap and efficient way to get drunk.

Thursday

Our pick: Monkey Heads at Triple Rock Brewery & Alehouse

There’s a reason why the line often goes halfway down the block on Thursday nights. Triple Rock is a Berkeley institution, and on Thursdays for just $10 you can buy the cult classic Monkey Head, a pint-sized, 8.5% ABV beer that is almost guaranteed to have you stumbling at the end of the night. The place is usually packed with undergraduate students on Thursday nights, making it the quintessential college bar scene where you can hang out with your squad, mingle with new friends and run into people you forgot you knew.

Friday

Our pick: Beat the clock at Pappy’s Grill and Sports Bar

As you get ready to kick the weekend into high-gear party mode, Pappy’s is the perfect place to start the fun. Starting at 4 p.m., you can buy pitchers of draft beer for $6, with the price going up by just a dollar each hour. No matter where your Friday plans may take you, Pappy’s offers an affordable way to get the booze flowing the second you put down your work for the week.

Just because it’s not 11 p.m. on a Saturday night doesn’t mean you can’t still be turning up with your best pals. No matter what day it is, there are endless opportunities for drunken merriment at a good price in Berkeley, if you know where to find them.
