Berkeley police have located 27-year-old Joe Spears, a previously missing at-risk person, according to a Nixle alert released by Berkeley Police Department on Monday afternoon.

Spears, who was last seen Monday about 2:42 p.m. near Malcolm X Elementary School, was spotted by a passer-by about six blocks away, according to the alert. He has since been reunited with his family.

Spears was described by a first Nixle alert as a 4-foot-9-inch man, about 240 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. According to the alert, Spears has Prader-Willi syndrome, a developmental disability that causes him to have limited mobility and “the mentality of a 6-year-old.”
