Berkeley police apprehend suspect in connection to prowling incident in La Loma Park neighborhood

Berkeley Police Department arrested a suspect on suspicion of prowling and possession of a concealed dagger, among other charges, according to a Nixle alert released Wednesday afternoon.

The alert said officers were flagged down in the La Loma Park neighborhood about 12:25 p.m. Sunday, after a resident reportedly saw a suspect jumping over the fence into the yard of a private residence on Quail Road. The resident directed the officers to the house, and when they searched the yard, they successfully located the suspect. Upon searching him, the officers found a fixed blade dagger with a metal knuckle attachment as the handle.

The suspect, a 38-year-old male, was arrested on suspicion of prowling, possession of a concealed dirk or dagger and possession of metal knuckles.
