Homicide detectives found several assault weapons after performing a search on an Oakland resident in Emeryville on Thursday, according to a Nixle alert released by Berkeley Police Department on Wednesday afternoon.

While conducting a follow-up investigation on a suspect involved in a gun transaction, detectives performed a search on the 4300 block of Essex Street in Emeryville. Inside, detectives found five guns, including two assault weapons, handguns, a 100 round drum loaded with “armor-piercing rounds” and hundreds of rounds of other ammunition, according to the alert.

Authorities arrested the suspect, a 39-year-old Oakland man, and charged him with several weapon-related violations.
