On a campus as large as UC Berkeley, there are many different types of mentors. Teachers, fellow students and staff members all support one another in various ways. In this issue of The Daily Californian, we want to take the time to thank all these mentors.
There are high school teachers who struggle to make ends meet in Berkeley — but love the students they teach. There are coaches who have been guiding Cal athletes for decades. There are programs that support underrepresented students and give them the resources and encouragement to thrive on this campus. These are just some of the many mentors who, despite their own challenges, have left impressions on our community.
Mentors help guide us through our academic, personal and career struggles. They help us grow into the people we want to be, and yet they often go unappreciated. We hope this issue makes all our readers stop and thank the meaningful mentors in their lives today.
