Berkeley police search for sexual battery suspect

Berkeley police are requesting community assistance in their search for a sexual battery suspect, according to a Nixle alert released Monday afternoon.

On Feb. 22 about 10:28 p.m., the male suspect inappropriately touched a woman without her consent while she was walking on the 1300 block of University Avenue, according to the alert. Berkeley Police Department also released video surveillance footage of the suspect in its alert.

The suspect was described by witnesses as a 20- to 30-year-old man, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build and light facial hair and wearing a black hooded top.

BPD asked that anyone with information regarding this incident contact BPD at 510-981-5717.
