Two armed robberies occurred on Berkeley’s Southside early Thursday morning, targeting people in front of a fraternity and near People’s Park, according to a UCPD Nixle alert released later that day.

The first incident occurred at 12:38 a.m., when three male suspects approached a group of four people in front of the Delta Chi fraternity on Channing Way. According to the alert, the suspects were each armed with a gun and took the victim’s cellphones and other property. They fled the scene in a red Dodge.

Approximately one hour later at 1:30 a.m., two suspects armed with one handgun took a UC Berkeley student’s wallet as he was walking down Dwight Way near the southwestern corner of People’s Park. The suspects then fled in a “black sedan type vehicle,” the alert said.
