Car found floating in Berkeley Aquatic Park

A car was found floating in Berkeley’s Aquatic Park on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

According to the statement, the car was reported stolen on Monday. The car was found by parks staff at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, with only the roof visible. Berkeley Fire Department rescue swimmers “were able to check the passenger compartment of the vehicle and saw that no one appeared inside,” according to White’s email. The vehicle was towed out of the water with assistance from Alameda County Sheriff’s Office divers and confirmed empty.
