A 59-year-old man was stabbed on Harrison Street early Sunday morning, according to a report from Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

BPD responded to reports of a fight at about 5 a.m. Sunday on the 700 block of Harrison Street. BPD found the victim bleeding severely, according to an email from White, and officers administered first aid to the man.

The victim suffered injuries to his arm, according to BPD, and was taken to a hospital. BPD officers apprehended the suspect, Carl Aytcham, who was later charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with “Assault with a Deadly Weapon — with an enhancement for causing great bodily injury,” according to the email.
