Cal men’s basketball continues to accumulate depth this offseason, earning a commitment from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi graduate transfer Kareem South.

“Excited to announce I have committed to the University of California-Berkeley to finish my collegiate career!” South wrote in a Twitter post. “Thank you to all the coaches and family who helped me through this process.”

As a senior, South was a third-team All-Southland Conference selection, averaging 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 36.7 percent from deep.

South, 22, will provide much-needed experience as well. Cal was one of the youngest teams in the nation last season and will have to continue to rely on its youth with the losses of Justice Sueing, Darius McNeill and Connor Vanover.
