Suspect drives away after laptop theft at Caffè Strada on College Avenue

A San Pablo resident had his laptop stolen from him at Caffè Strada at 2300 College Ave. in Berkeley on the evening of June 4, according to an email sent by Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

The suspect approached the laptop owner from behind as he was sitting in the patio area of Caffè Strada using his laptop, the email said. The suspect grabbed the man’s laptop and ran to a waiting vehicle on College Avenue.

According to the email, witnesses described the suspect as a Black male in his 20s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a thin build, wearing dark jeans and a hooded top. The suspect was last seen driving away in a dark SUV with a roof rack.
