2 suspects arrested in connection to stolen U-Haul van

Two suspects were arrested in connection to a stolen U-Haul van on Saturday, according to an email from Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

According to the email, at 8:08 p.m. Saturday, an officer spotted two men in a previously stolen U-Haul van in the parking lot of 1050 Gilman St. After safely detaining the suspects, the officers searched them and the van and found tar heroin, a methamphetamine pipe and some “shaved keys.”

The two men were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of narcotics and identity theft, according to the email.

According to the email, the suspects were identified as 32-year-old Dustin Ramponi from El Sobrante and 35-year-old Paul Lester.
