The Head and the Heart came to the last stop of the band’s Living Mirage tour at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on July 26.

As a soft red light filled the room, indie rock band Hippo Campus kicked off the night with a mellifluous delivery of “Warm Glow.” What followed was a comprehensive range of the band’s material from its latest album Demos II, including “No Poms” and “Ease Up Kid,” as well as popular tracks like “South” and “Buttercup.” The St. Paul crew’s energy had the audience chanting and swaying throughout its entire set.

The Head and the Heart’s excitement to be back in San Francisco was translated into its enchanting renditions of “Missed Connection,” “All We Ever Knew” and fan favorite “Lost in My Mind.” In the smoky haze, lights speckled the auditorium for an intimate serenading of “Let’s Be Still.” The entire night captivated the crowd with the vibrant yet tender performance.
