A 25-year-old UC Berkeley student and member of the People’s Park Committee was arrested in People’s Park about 9 a.m. Sunday.

Vincent Catheline, who prefers to go by Adam Ziegler, was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and resisting or delaying a peace officer, according to UCPD spokesperson Sgt. Nic Hernandez.

During the spring, Ziegler was asked to leave the Cloyne Court co-op where he had previously resided because of a dispute with the Berkeley Student Cooperative Central Council, according to Lisa Teague, another member of the People’s Park Committee. Since then, Ziegler has been periodically sleeping in People’s Park, Teague added.

Ziegler was arrested in January while protesting the cutting of the trees in People’s Park, according to Teague. He was also reportedly arrested by UCPD in the spring during another protest at People’s Park after the teardown of a donation box, she added.

According to Teague, Ziegler was arraigned in the East County Hall of Justice on Tuesday morning.
