A break-in and burglary occurred at Berkeley’s Chochmat HaLev synagogue Monday. According to a press release issued by the Jewish News of Northern California, the door of the synagogue was kicked down and an estimated $15,000 worth of equipment was stolen, including computers and sound equipment. The stolen equipment also included security cameras that were about to be installed.
The crime occurred between the Jewish High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The press release states that it has not been determined whether or not this was a hate crime.
