A red flag warning has been issued by the National Weather Service to much of the Bay Area, including Alameda County, from this afternoon until Thursday at 4 p.m., according to a Nixle alert.

Warm weather, strong winds and very low humidity put Alameda County, North Bay and the Santa Cruz mountains at risk for extreme fire danger. The East Bay can experience up to 30-40mph wind gusts, according to the Nixle alert.

The National Weather Service forecasts even stronger winds and additional fire dangers to the Bay Area Saturday night into Sunday.
