It’s only been a few days since Cal secured commitments from 5-stars Fatou Samb and Ugonne Onyiah, and the Bears have already landed their third 5-star recruit for the class of 2020 this week in Dalayah Daniels.
The 6’4” forward is the highest-ranked recruit yet, coming in at an incredible 14th in the nation and second at her position, according to ESPN. She plays for Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington. Her versatile skill set will be a big addition to the team next year.
A July 2019 review said Daniels is an “Athletic interior prospect with quickness in the paint; baseline attacker finishes plays in the lane over defenders; mobile in uptempo game; a skilled front court performer in the class of 2020.”
New head coach Charmin Smith hasn’t even coached a game yet and is already making her mark on Cal women’s basketball. With the team in a rebuilding phase after losing four of five starters to graduation, this stellar string of recruiting will go a long way toward the future success of the program.
