Not all students are able to go home during the short Thanksgiving break. Whether you’re from out of state or the country, it’s not easy to pack your things and visit home during the five-day break. Nevertheless, you should take the time to show gratitude for the people in your life while savoring this annual feast. For those who are staying in the Bay Area, here are some of the best restaurants to enjoy your Thanksgiving feast at!

Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen, Berkeley

Located in Downtown Berkeley, Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen might be the most famous restaurant in Berkeley. The music, vibe and dishes all play a role in creating the perfect New Orleans environment. Some of the restaurant’s most famous dishes include jambalaya, buttermilk fried chicken and shrimp creole. If you have a taste for this Southern-style food, make sure to try Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen!

Great China, Berkeley

Great China is one of the few authentic Chinese restaurants in Berkeley. Although it’s located right across from campus, this spot is arranged so beautifully that you’ll feel like you’re eating at a fancy restaurant that’s far away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Berkeley. Its most famous dish is the Peking duck, and it’s so delicious! If you’re from East Asia and are craving some authentic East Asian food, Great China is for you! It’s the perfect place to treat yourself for your Thanksgiving feast in Berkeley.

The Butcher’s Son, Berkeley

Contrary to its name, The Butcher’s Son is known for its enormous sandwiches filled with delicious vegan goodness. That’s right, it’s vegan. Although the menu is composed of dishes like barbecue pulled pork and fried chicken sandwiches, this restaurant prides itself on serving 100% plant-based foods. The sandwiches are so good that even meat-lovers become regulars. Regardless of whether you’re a meat-eater or an individual who follows a plant-based diet, you should treat yourself to The Butcher’s Son.

The Front Porch, San Francisco

Reminding us of our own homes growing up, The Front Porch serves up delicious comfort food in enormous portions, all set in a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant specializes in Southern Cajun food and is most famous for its fried chicken and waffles, as well as the shrimp and grits. Since Thanksgiving is about family and showing gratitude for the people in our lives, The Front Porch is the perfect restaurant to celebrate this holiday at.

Here are some of the best restaurants in Berkeley and beyond to celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s necessary to treat yourself sometimes, especially after a long and difficult semester. Relax and enjoy yourself during this short break!

Fear not, readers. I’m not crazy like the rest of the United States. I acknowledge that it’s way too early to be listening to holiday music, but it isn’t too early to be listening to one particular holiday’s music — Thanksgiving.
