Sometimes in order to build a championship team, there first has to be years of losing and coming up short. These hardships bring the team closer together, since it endured the tough times as a unit. Then one year everything breaks, leading to a championship season
For the Bears, 2020 could be that season.
After Cal women’s swim’s dominant victory at Minnesota, the Bears are officially ranked No. 1 on the College Swimming Coaches Association of America top 25 list as of Dec. 11.
After finishing as the runner-up three years in a row, the Bears finally head into the new decade as the number one team in the country. Three-time defending champion and Pac-12 rival Stanford is ranked No. 4.
Based on how they have performed so far, the Bears should remain the title favorite all season long.
