Four-star tight end recruit D.J. Rogers committed to Cal earlier this afternoon, making himself the highest rated commit of the 2020 class. The senior from Sammamish, Washington, turned down offers from top-tier programs including Alabama, Georgia, USC, Arizona State and recently crowned SEC and Pac-12 champions LSU and Oregon.

“I chose Cal because of the opportunities it presented. Cal is one of the best institutions in the country — they have top-notch education, and the connections and networking you can make in the Bay Area is unmatched,” Rogers said in his verbal commitment. “They have something cooking up there in Berkeley.”

The 230-pound tight end is Cal’s first four-star recruit of the 2020 class and hands the Bears a top 25 recruiting class, according to Rivals. The last four-star commit Cal landed was outside linebacker Kuony Deng, who has totaled 111 tackles this year.
