Cal women’s basketball falls to Utah, stays winless in Pac-12 play

The losing streak continued for the Cal women’s basketball team Friday afternoon, as Cal fell to Utah 71-62 to drop to 0-7 in conference action.

Utah freshman Brynna Maxwell followed up her career-high 24-point performance last week against Colorado with a new career-high of 27 yesterday. Maxwell torched the Bears, going 10-14 from the field, including 3-5 from long distance.

Cal junior Alaysia Styles reentered the starting lineup after coming off the bench for the first time this year at Oregon and put up 12 points. Redshirt senior Sara Anastasieska seems to have come out of her preseason slump, playing all 40 minutes and scoring a team-high 22 points.

Next up is Colorado on Sunday, a team that sits at 2-5 in Pac-12 play, but is coming off of a close overtime loss to No. 6 Stanford.
