Man detained, given psych evaluation after causing disturbance in 2 businesses

Berkeley Police Department detained a man causing a disturbance inside of two businesses at the intersection of Walnut Street and Vine Street about 9:40 a.m. Feb. 24.

A caller phoning in the incident said the man was yelling, “acting erratically” and potentially armed, according to BPD spokesperson Officer Byron White.

The man was located, detained and will be transported to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation, White said in an email.
