A bicycle and vehicle collided before 8 p.m. at the corner of University Avenue and Oxford Street on Feb. 26.
Berkeley Police Department received a call at 7:53 p.m. reporting a collision between a small SUV and a bicyclist, according to BPD spokesperson Officer Byron White.
White added that the vehicle was going eastbound on University Avenue before making a left-hand turn northbound on Oxford Street. The bicyclist came westbound without a helmet on West Crescent and collided into the side of the vehicle.
The bicyclist was ejected over the vehicle and onto the roadway, according to White. They were then taken to a local hospital after suffering injuries to the face and jaw and is now in critical condition, according to White.
According to UCPD spokesperson Sgt. Nicolas Hernandez, there is no public danger as a result of the incident.
