An 80-year-old man was attacked while walking on Adeline Street near Alcatraz Avenue in the early morning Feb. 26, according to a Berkeley Police Department Nixle Alert.
While the man was walking, the suspect yelled at him from a nearby doorway, where he had been sleeping. The suspect then approached the man, accused him of taking the suspect’s belongings and began punching the man, according to the alert.
After the man collapsed to the ground, the suspect walked back to where he had been sleeping. The suspect then came back with a belt, which he used to strike the man repeatedly.
The man was later transported to a local hospital with several bruises.
