38-year-old Kamau Kwasi Butler was arrested March 2 on suspicion of robbery, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

Butler is suspected to be in connection with a robbery that occurred at a CVS Pharmacy on March 2 at 4 p.m., White added. When the store’s staff spoke with the suspect who had allegedly stolen from the store in the past, the suspect threatened their life. The suspect also allegedly stole several boxes of medication from the store’s shelves before driving away.

Butler was apprehended in his vehicle as it was driving away and he was subsequently arrested, White said in an email.

According to White, the crime is classified as a robbery because it was done through “threat of force.”
