Gunshot reported by Dwight Way, Seventh Street, Berkeley police respond

BPD responded to a report of a gunshot around 3:40 p.m. Monday by Dwight Way and Seventh Street.

According to BPD spokesperson Officer Byron White, a person living in a downstairs unit of an apartment building said they heard a gunshot and that there is a hole in their ceiling, as if someone shot downward through the floor from a unit above.

White said no one in the downstairs unit was hurt, and police responded to the situation and investigated at the scene.

As of Wednesday, the suspect still has not been apprehended, according to White, but the investigation is ongoing.
