ASUC presidential candidate Haazim Amirali suspended his campaign Sunday night.

Amirali is a current ASUC senator and ran his campaign with Student Action. Along with ending his campaign, Amirali also disaffiliated from Student Action, both in the race and for his senate seat.

Amirali’s name will not be removed from the ballot, as his announcement of ending his candidacy came out less than two hours before the voting period began. Only two candidates with active campaigns remain: independent candidate Victoria Vera and Defend Affirmative Action Party/Fighting for Immigrant Rights, or DAAP/FIRE, candidate Stephanie Gutierrez.

Amirali declined to comment.
