On April 8, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America, or CSCAA, announced the selection of its 2019-20 Division I All-American team where a total of 14 swimmers from the Cal swim team earned honors.
The blue and gold tied Florida for the fifth-most honorees in NCAA Division I.
The cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Championships led the CSCAA to adjust their selection criteria in each division. The adjusted criteria for Division 1 includes all relays achieving A’standards, individuals selected to the NCAA Championships, and divers entered in uncontested events from the Zone C Diving Qualification meet.
At the top of the Bears’ selections are Daniel Carr, Ryan Hoffer and Pawel Sendyk, who each gained All-American status in seven events. Swimmers Karl Arvidsson, Chris Jhong and Jason Louser each earned All-American status for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Hugo Gonzalez, Sean Grieshop, Michael Jensen, Trenton Julian, Bryce Mefford, Zheng Wen Quah, Reece Whitley and Ethan Young round out the list for Cal.
