Two Oakland residents were arrested on suspicion of package theft Monday after Berkeley Police Department officers caught a vehicle filled with packages in the Panoramic Way neighborhood.

Officers were first alerted of the package theft April 11 at 8:23 a.m., after someone reported a package being stolen from their neighbor’s house.

“For those who are unfamiliar with the Panoramic Way neighborhood, there is only one way in and one way out,” a BPD Nixle alert reads. “As you might imagine, officers caught up with the suspects soon after.”

The officers arrested the suspects after finding about 12 stolen packages and 24 pieces of stolen mail belonging to 17 different people in the cities of Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland.

Ieisha Griffin, 47, and Stephen McCorry, 29, were charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with theft, possession of stolen property and mail theft.
