Cal men’s basketball landed graduate transfer Ryan Betley, a guard from Downington, Pennsylvania, who will use his last year of eligibility to play with the Bears in the 2020-21 season.
Betley is transferring to Cal after spending four seasons at Penn, where he redshirted his true junior season. The grad transfer started 70 games for the Quakers and averaged 12.8 points per game on 43.5% field goal shooting during that time. The guard also shot 38.3% from three-point range, a skill which will bolster a Bears team that ranked No. 336 in the nation in made threes last season.
A Second Team All-Ivy League selection two years ago, Betley is a welcome addition after Cal secured just two high school commits for its 2020 class. Junior Juhwan Harris-Dyson elected to enter the transfer portal on Thursday, giving the blue and gold yet another potential slot to fill on their roster.
