Berkeley Fire Department responds to tent fire at People’s Park

At 4:04 p.m. Tuesday, the Berkeley Fire Department received reports of a fire at People’s Park near Bowditch Street and Haste Street, according to BFD spokesperson Officer Keith May.

The department’s first unit arrived at 4:09 p.m. and found a small tent on fire, May said in an email. The tent was damaged by the fire and, as of press time, the department has not found the fire’s cause.

May added that no structures were involved in the fire and there were also no injuries to the public or firefighters.
