After narrowing down his top five schools in an April 19 tweet, transfer guard Jarred Hyder announced his commitment to Cal on Saturday.

Hyder started in 24 of 26 games last season in his freshman year with Fresno State, where he averaged 9.1 points per game and 3.1 assists, a number that would have led all blue and gold players last season. The 6’3” incoming sophomore joins Cal’s 2020 points leader Matt Bradley as the second Bear from San Bernardino, a hometown partnership for which Bradley expressed his optimism on Twitter shortly after Hyder’s commitment.

Cal edged a slew of major-conference programs in snagging Hyder, including Missouri, BYU, Washington State and Saint Mary’s.
