The first of Cal men’s basketball’s two intended transfers found his new home Wednesday after rising junior forward Jacobi Gordon committed to Louisiana-Lafayette. Gordon averaged 2.3 points on just less than 10 minutes per game in his two seasons with the Bears.
Gordon announced his intent to transfer March 3 after a sophomore season during which he played in 12 games for Cal but was held back due to injury. On May 27, he committed to the Ragin’ Cajuns, who play in the Sun Belt Conference in Division I. Louisiana-Lafayette went 14-19 last season with an 8-12 conference record.
In high school, Gordon was also plagued by injury and missed his senior season. Despite this, he was a four-star recruit and was 89th in ESPN’s top 100. While he didn’t have the largest impact on the Bears the last two seasons, he can provide a lot of help to a struggling Ragin’ Cajuns team if he can stay healthy.
