With shelter-in-place orders still in effect across the Bay Area, it’s easy to tire of cooking for oneself.

Luckily, many local restaurants in Berkeley are offering pickup and delivery options, allowing for tasty meals while maintaining safety. Here are a few Bay Area student favorites.

Tasty Pot

Address: 2115 Kittredge St.

Hours: 11:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., 5 – 9:15 p.m. (Closed Wednesdays)

Available for takeout via phone and for delivery via Uber Eats, DoorDash and HungryPanda

One of many boba shops in Berkeley, Tasty Pot offers Taiwanese food and specializes in hot pot soups of 12 different flavors.

The large portions come with rice or vermicelli noodles, and customers can choose their own spice levels.

Sliver Pizzeria

Address: 2174 Shattuck Ave. or 2468 Telegraph Ave.

Hours: Noon – 9 p.m.

Available for takeout

With two Berkeley locations and another in Oakland, Sliver Pizzeria offers plenty of delicious pizza.

“I could eat there everyday for lunch and not get tired of their unique and vegetarian pizza (with green sauce),” said UC Berkeley student Tiffany Hernandez in an Instagram message.

Along with offering vegetarian options, Sliver caters to vegan and gluten-free customers. Sliver offers one selection of toppings per day in order to keep its ingredients as fresh as possible.

Sliver also promotes social awareness around ending human trafficking by supporting local organizations.

Each location’s pizza of the day can be found on Sliver’s website, along with a schedule for the upcoming week.

Berkeley Social Club

Address: 2050 University Ave.

Hours: 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 5 – 9 p.m.

Available for takeout via the Berkeley Social Club website

Offering contemporary Korean American cuisine, Berkeley Social Club is a great choice for those willing to spend a little more on brunch or dinner.

It is also the winner of The Daily Californian’s 2018 Best of Berkeley award for best Korean food.

“Berkeley Social Club is hella good,” said Oakland local Emma Ly in a text. “Pricey, but good for happy hours.”

Dishes range from deep-fried french toast for breakfast to Korean fried chicken for dinner. There is also a wide variety of nonfried choices.

Asha Tea House

Address: 2086 University Ave.

Hours: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. (Closed Mondays)

Available for takeout and delivery via DoorDash, Postmates and the Asha Tea House website

Renowned for its artisan teas, Asha Tea House offers a wide variety of tea-based drinks and coffees.

“Asha Tea House iced matcha latte is so good!” said Diablo Valley College student Naomi Lucky in a text. “And the staff is so nice and friendly!”

The tea shop offers barista-made drinks and snacks, as well as dried whole leaf tea and drinkware so that customers can make its drinks at home.

Asha Tea House does offer boba, but only in select drinks in which it is a traditional ingredient, such as Taiwanese tapioca milk tea.

Matcha and mango eclairs are available in limited quantities and go perfectly with any drink you desire.

Gordo Taqueria

Address: 2989 College Ave.

Hours: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Available for takeout via the Gordo Taqueria website and for delivery via Caviar

Offering burritos, tacos, plates and quesadillas, Gordo is a quintessential Berkeley taqueria.

Protein options include chicken, carnitas and beef, as well as chile verde, beans and cheese. Black, pinto and refried beans are all available.

“Gordo’s quesadillas are basically the same as their burritos but a dollar cheaper,” said UC Berkeley student Johanna Castro-Karney in an Instagram message.

While guacamole does cost extra, it can be purchased in larger quantities as a side, with quarter and half pint options. Bring friends and get a big one to share!
