‘Red Flag Warning’ issued for Berkeley Hills through Sept. 9

An alert concerning high fire danger for the Berkeley Hills area reminded people to be cautious when operating heat sources such as barbecues and power equipment.

The National Weather Service issued a high fire danger warning for the Berkeley Hills area beginning 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, until 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The alert advised Berkeley Hills residents in particular to prepare for an emergency by signing up for alerts, reviewing evacuation routes and parking off street when possible.

“Use extreme caution when operating BBQs, power equipment, or other heat sources such as idling cars,” the alert read. “Remember that fireworks are always completely forbidden in Berkeley and surrounding areas.”
