Police respond to report of shooting in West Berkeley

Berkeley Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting in West Berkeley on Wednesday and were able to locate a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire at the scene.

Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, officers responded to a report of gunfire Wednesday afternoon in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Murray Street, according to a BPD press release.

A local hospital notified BPD that a young man in his late teens arrived there with gunshot wounds shortly after officers arrived at the scene, the press release states. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers found a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire at the scene, according to the press release.

BPD has asked that anyone with information about this crime contact its homicide unit at (510) 981-5741.
