UC Berkeley announced the approval of a small number of pilot programs for outdoor instructional activities this semester in a campuswide email Oct. 22.

The pilot programs, which are only open to students living in the Bay Area, will begin Oct. 26 and end Nov. 24, the email states. The activities include offerings for international students whose visas require in-person meetings with instructors, music programs, ecology field work and Haas School of Business graduate courses.

All programs will adhere to the “core safety infrastructure” developed by campus, including wearing masks, physical distancing, testing prior to participation and daily screening.

“This pilot is possible because of the improving trends we’re seeing on campus and in the greater Berkeley community,” the email adds. “It is the direct result of all of our sacrifices and adherence to public health guidelines.”
