With the holiday season so close we can nearly taste it, I’m sure we’re all excited for the delicious meals that are right around the corner. Whether you’re celebrating by yourself, with roommates or with your family, we at the Clog have come up with the perfect songs to play in the background while you devour the delicious dishes on your kitchen table.

“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

I always get goosebumps within the first five seconds of this song! Every time I hear the lyrics “Home is wherever I’m with you,” I can’t help but crack a smile. This song reminds us that at the end of the day, all we need is each other, and I think this is an especially important message to spread as we approach this holiday season and connect with loved ones in safe ways.

“Ho Hey” by The Lumineers

The vibe this song gives off is pure nostalgia, but in the best way possible. I instantly feel comfortable and at home every time it comes on.

“Home” by Phillip Phillips

This was my favorite song throughout all of high school. Anytime I go on a trip without my family, I play this song while I’m on the plane. It brings back so many memories and is absolutely perfect for a dinner party — or maybe even to be saved for while you’re eating dessert!

 “Tongue Tied” by Grouplove

A perfect song to listen to with friends and family, “Tongue Tied” embodies a feeling of togetherness. You’ll feel like you’re living your best life with this song. Laughter will echo through the room and good vibes will spread immediately. It’s nearly impossible to be in a bad mood after giving it a listen.

“Out of My League” by Fitz and The Tantrums

This song makes me move my feet without even realizing it. With a fun beat and good lyrics, this is the perfect song to play in the background or dance to in the kitchen when you’re cleaning up.

“5 Years Time” by Noah and the Whale

This is absolutely so much fun to listen to. The different instruments and fresh voices combined create a feel-good song that reassures the listener that everything is going to be okay and reminds them to constantly surround yourself with people you love. It’s funky and fresh, and I absolutely love it.

“Ophelia” by The Lumineers

This is one of those songs that stays in your head for the rest of the day, but surprisingly you don’t mind. The solo piano bits throughout are entrancing, and “Ophelia” will remain one of my favorites for a long time.

“Dirty Paws” by Of Monsters and Men

Besides the name alone, this song makes me feel adventurous and free. The vocals are raw and real. This is truly an underrated gem that releases vibes as if you were on top of the world. I want to drop all of my responsibilities and go dance outside in the rain — before coming back immediately to finish my meal, of course.

“It Runs Through Me” by Tom Misch, De La Soul

Tom Misch will forever be an artist that never ceases to amaze me. Groovy, classy and jazzy, this song is a must add. I would recommend saving it for last or else you might accidentally put it on repeat — that’s how good it is.

Here at the Clog, we can’t wait for the hearty meals we’re about to fill our tummies with in the months to come. And now, with this playlist, you’ll find yourself dancing before, after and in between courses!
