A high fire danger warning has been issued for Berkeley Hills residents starting from 11 p.m. Sunday and is scheduled to end at 11 a.m. Monday.

Residents should prepare for the red flag warning by signing up for alerts, packing a go bag, reviewing evacuation routes and parking off-street when possible to allow space for emergency vehicles, according to a press release from the city of Berkeley.

The press release added that people should take extreme caution when operating barbecues, power equipment and other heat sources, including idling cars. The press release also noted that fireworks are forbidden in Berkeley and its surrounding areas.

“Fires that start during Red Flag Warnings can spread rapidly due to high winds and dry vegetation,” the press release adds.
