Slow cooker meals: 3 quick and easy recipes to dump while you study

Lose the skillet, and plug in your slow cooker this finals season. Finding the time to cook might seem impossible right now, but if you have access to a slow cooker, all you’ll need to do is dump and return. There’s nothing better than a decent, home-cooked meal that requires very little labor or time! 

Here are three chicken recipes you can use for your slow cooker tonight. For each of these recipes, all you need to do is dump your ingredients, set your appliance to low and check back in three to four hours. 

Shredded BBQ chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2-3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup sliced onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon pepper 

Serve on a bun, sandwich bread or with rice.

Spicy chicken and veggie bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 chicken breast
  • ½ cup sliced bell pepper (frozen or fresh)
  • ¼ cup sliced onion
  • ½ cup pinto or black beans
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Serve over a bed of rice.

Rosemary-garlic chicken and potatoes 

Ingredients 

  • 1 chicken breast
  • ¼ cup potato chunks
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Serve with a side salad and a slice of bread. 

Voila! You no longer have to stand over your pan and keep checking on your food to prevent it from burning. This is as easy and effortless as it gets. So, what are you waiting for? Start experimenting for tonight’s dinner with your favorite ingredients, meats and condiments for your next slow cooker meal!
