On Wednesday, Berkeley Police Department arrested a 28-year-old Oakland man on suspicion of carrying a loaded, concealed firearm, in addition to multiple weapons violations.
At 11:20 p.m. in the area of San Pablo Avenue and Virginia Street, an officer noticed a car driving with its headlights off, according to a BPD Nixle alert. Upon contacting the driver, BPD noticed the smell of marijuana smoke coming from within the vehicle.
After searching the car, BPD found a loaded assault rifle equipped with a high-capacity magazine in the backseat, according to the alert.
