Berkeley police arrest teen on suspicion of robbery

According to a Nixle alert by Berkeley Police Department, officers arrested a 17-year-old on the 2100 block of Oxford Street. Police officers arrested the individual on suspicion of robbery.

Berkeley Police Department officers arrested a 17-year-old Jan. 30 on suspicion of robbery.

The suspect approached the victim at 6:55 p.m. along the 2100 block of Oxford Street and demanded his cellphone while pointing a handgun at him, according to a BPD Nixle alert. The suspect then ran away after taking the victim’s cellphone, the alert added.

According to the alert, officers later located the suspect at the Downtown Berkeley BART station. After arresting the suspect, officers recovered a Sig Sauer replica pistol and the victim’s cellphone, the alert states.
