Berkeley police arrest suspect on suspicion of resisting arrest after pursuit

A 23-year-old Berkeley man was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest Friday. The man was also arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm with a large capacity magazine.

At 3:16 p.m., BPD was informed of a suspect entering the city via Highway 13 after fleeing from a felony crime in Antioch, according to a BPD Nixle alert. The suspect, a 23-year-old Berkeley man, was followed by a helicopter from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office during the pursuit, the alert added.

BPD officers, including the department’s Bike Force, responded to the area after the suspect parked his vehicle south of campus. After spotting and chasing the suspect, officers detained the suspect on Dwight Way, according to the alert.

The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm with a large capacity magazine.
